Day 1:  Christchurch - Akaroa (L)

Thursday 15th April

We will travel to Akaroa, with Travel Companions Host, Colleen and her team, departing from Christchurch at approximately 9am.   Upon arrival, continuing with our French theme we will attend an especially designed Akaroa Cooking School class entitled : Cocktails, Canapes and a Taste of France.   Our wonderful hosts Lou and Ant Bentley will take us on an authentic cuisine journey. We will be greeted with tea/coffee and some delicious nibbles, before spending several hours understanding some of the many secrets of French cuisine, along with learning how to create some exotic cocktails!

“There is a growing awareness of the importance of eating well.   We share our passion for cooking using the best ingredients possible and share how slow cooking can be rewarding and a lot of fun.   From planning a menu to sourcing the best ingredients, where to shop and how to stock your panty, your day with us will leave you feeling inspired and indulged” Lou and Ant Bentley.

After a delightful few hours, we will then have the wonderful opportunity to partake in a late leisurely lunch, sampling the wonderful fare of our efforts. Accompanying wines or non-alcoholic drinks are included.

Later this afternoon we will check in to the nearby centrally located Bruce Apartments, for some time to relax. These comfortable well appointed two bedroom apartments offer a sea or lighthouse view. If you are a solo traveller, appreciate your own bedroom, with a bathroom shared between two.   Each apartment has its own balcony or terrace, with underfloor heating.

There is also the option for a studio unit at the nearby Tresori Apartments, at a small additional fee, if you prefer to have your own bathroom.
