Day 1: Arrive in Auckland

On arrival into Auckland, you will be transferred to your city hotel. Make the most of the remainder of the day exploring Auckland, the city of sails. The Auckland city centre offers world-class shopping, restaurants, bars and galleries which are encircled by wine regions, stunning beaches, pristine rainforest and the magnificent Hauraki Gulf. Later this afternoon meet your local tour representative and fellow travellers, who will provide an introductory tour briefing.

Day 2: Auckland to Paihia (BD)

Following breakfast, discover more of Auckland for in a morning sightseeing tour. Start at the City’s beautiful waterside setting, with its trendy cafes, and boutique stores. Continue to the beachside neighbourhoods to the east of the city and take advantage of great views at Bastion Point. In the afternoon, travel north across the harbour bridge, passing through the North Shore suburbs and the Hibiscus Coast region into the countryside. Continue through farmland towns of Warkworth and Wellsford before arriving into Whangarei, and then to scenic Paihia located in the Bay of Islands. Dinner is included this evening at your hotel.

Day 3: Cape Reinga Day (BL)

Today travel to the top of New Zealand through the rolling hills of Northland's rural countryside, breath-taking coastal views and native forest. Drive along the shores of Ninety Mile Beach as the waves crash beside you. Your off-road journey continues up Te Paki Stream, stopping at the massive sand dunes to experience the thrills and spills of sand surfing. Visit the Puketi Kauri Forest and get up close to ancient and majestic giant kauri trees and native bush. Visit Cape Reinga and hear the stories of this significant site where, according to Māori legend, spirits depart on their journey home to Hawaiki. See the incredible vista, visit the iconic lighthouse, and see the point where the Tasman Sea and the mighty Pacific Ocean come crashing together.   During your Cape Reinga tour today a lunch of delicious fresh fish and chips is included.

 Day 4: Paihia (B)

This morning cruise out into the Islands in search of dolphins and other marine life. Cruise right to the end of the Cape Brett Peninsula, to the famous Hole in the Rock on Motukokako Island. On your return, disembark at the gorgeous waterfront village and our first capital, Russell with time to explore this historic town.   Later today, visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, our birthplace, for a guided tour to learn about the history, stories, personalities and events that shaped New Zealand.

Day 5: Paihia to Auckland (BD)

Today, return to Auckland via the West Coast. Travel south along the coast for a stop at the Waipoua Forest. Take a short walk to view Tāne Mahuta (the Māori God of the Forest) a 2000-year-old living treasure. Continue to Matahoke and visit the award winning Kauri Museum to learn how our early European settlers extracted kauri timber and kauri gum. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening.

Day 6: Depart Auckland (B)

Your tour will conclude today following breakfast and your transfer to the Airport.

PAYMENTS:

A non-refundable deposit of $250 per person is required at the time of booking. The balance of the tour price is required 45 days prior to your travel date. If you book inside 45 days, full payment will be required at the time of booking. Payment can be made by bank transfer. If you cancel between 21 and 45 days prior to your travel date 30% of your tour cost will be charged. If you cancel between 8 and 20 days prior to your tour departure you will be charged 50% of your tour cost. Cancellations within 8 working days of departures will incur a 100% cancellation charge.

Innovative Travel recommends purchasing travel insurance, even when travelling within New Zealand.

Flights are the responsibility of the passenger and Innovative Travel takes no responsibility for costs involved for any changes to flights that might be required due to necessary amendments in itineraries.

Note: Wheelchair passengers

Some activities are not suitable for wheelchair passengers and any passenger requiring wheelchair assistance must be accompanied by a fellow traveller that is capable of assisting with all mobility requirements. Maximum of one wheelchair per group, the wheelchair must be fully collapsible. Further wheelchairs may be allowed subject to group size.
