Elhamy ElZayat (MNZM)

Elhamy ElZayat is regarded as the “Grandfather” of Egyptian tourism with an MBA in Management from the American University in Cairo, along with other University degrees.
His earliest role in tourism was with Pan American in Cairo, before launching his own Cairo based tourism company in 1977. He has held roles as Vice Chair of the National Heritage Revival Association, the Chair of the Egyptian Tourism Federation, Chair of the Egyptian Travel Agents Association and Board Member of the Egyptian Tourism Authority.
In 1987 he received the World Peace Tourism Award presented by American Express and Reed. In recognition for his services as New Zealand’s Honorary Consul in developing trade and tourism, he was awarded the Queens Birthday Honour of New Zealand Order of Merit, presented in Cairo in 2007.
