Do let Innovative Travel know how fabulous Mike Doyle was as a Tour Host. Mike’s openness certainly meant we learnt twice as much as we may have done and had a more in-depth insight into the countries and places we travelled. He’s a natural peacekeeper and was inquisitive with other travellers as well as those who were guiding us.

Not to be forgotten were our fine pick of local guides. Amina, Hassan, and Raja were better than any google (rolling off days, dates and histories I found mind boggling).

We felt very lucky to have Mike as a tour host, he has a great sense of humour and also played the piano, keeping us well entertained. John thoroughly enjoyed his company as well, we all felt at ease and in foreign countries.

100^th anniversary Le Quesnoy Battlefield tour Oct 2018    

I would like to highly recommend Myriam who guided our Innovative WWI tour. She went out of her way to accommodate the members of our small group and took us to many sites relevant to our family members. Her knowledge was amazing. Myriam is bilingual with a French mother and Australian father and lives with her French husband in the Somme. Myriam would be a huge asset for any individuals visiting the Somme or Passchendaele areas and wanting a knowledgeable battlefield guide.

Dunedin School Group Visit To Turkey
September 2015

In September I had the pleasure of travelling once again to Turkey - this time leading a High School College group of 34. Our itinerary included Istanbul, Canakkale and Gallipoli - finishing in Kusadasi. Whilst I have travelled through Turkey previously it was a delight to see it again through the fresh eyes of teenagers - their amazement at what they were seeing, experiencing, interaction with the local guides and local people and of course the Turkish food. It confirmed for me that this was a very special place and should be included or at least considered whenever anyone travels to Europe. This itinerary offered the best possible experience, best value, and safety - vital for a school group.

A wonderful journey of remembrance. Innovative do a superb job of organising this type of travel. A nice balance of the Monte Cassino commemorations, visits to the Commonwealth War Cemeteries and time to savour the history and culture of Italy. Rene Wilson is the ultimate tour host. His thoughtful and professional approach meant the entire trip went off without a hitch.

I joined 25 other pilgrims for a brief trip to the holy lands of Jordan, Israel and the West Bank in May. Most of us had little idea of what lay ahead - but we need not have feared for the leadership of Rev. Mike Hawke and Colleen Doyle was superb. (Both had been there several times before ... comforting!). We visited holy sites and archaeological sites. Wallowed in the Dead Sea, Mt. Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land, rode a camel at Petra, marvelled at ancient mosaics at Madaba, Jerusalem…memories everywhere, walls at Jericho, Bethlehem, Masada Fortress, scenic Caesarea, Nazareth, Galilee, Banias, Capernaum, Cana, Safed, Tabgha, Qumran…Every day a highlight.
