Mama Mia Islands

This morning you will be collected from your hotel for your half-day coach tour of Athens and the new Acropolis Museum.

This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Your expert guide will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop). Continue and pass by the Prime Minister's residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Evzones in their colorful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma).

On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in the mind", the Parthenon. Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The new Acropolis Museum. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight Athens.

Note: Due to certain restrictions in the visiting hours of the new Acropolis Museum the order of the program can be changed. Entrance fees included. Tour pick-up time from hotel should be confirmed with our local operator, usually the day prior. This tour does not operate during Greek National Holidays.

This morning you will be transferred from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Skiathos. Often referred to as the gateway to the Mamma Mia! islands, Skiathos welcomed the cast and crew throughout filming and served as the logistical base for production. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel where accommodation is reserved for two nights.

The remainder of the day is free to explore the lively harbour, waterfront cafés and picturesque laneways that make Skiathos one of Greece's most beloved island destinations.

Today is at leisure to discover the island that supported the production of Mamma Mia! and showcases many of the breathtaking landscapes that characterise the Sporades. Start your Mamma Mia! Island Adventure.

Travel by 4WD across Skiathos to discover dramatic coastal scenery, hidden beaches and historic monasteries. Visit the medieval settlement of Kastro, the hilltop Church of Agios Alexandros, and the historic Monastery of Evangelistria, where the first modern Greek flag was created. Continue to the tranquil waters of Kechria Beach before travelling through the pine forests surrounding the famous golden sands of Koukounaries Beach, one of Greece's most celebrated coastal settings.

Alternatively, join a full-day sailing cruise to experience the spectacular coastline from the water, just as many of the film's memorable scenes capture the beauty of the Aegean Sea.

Transfer to Skiathos Port for your ferry crossing to Skopelos, the island that became the true star of Mamma Mia!. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel where accommodation is reserved for three nights. The remainder of the day is at leisure to wander the charming streets of Skopelos Town, whose authentic Greek atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for the film.

Today follows the footsteps of the cast and crew as you visit the island's most famous filming locations. Travel along the scenic west coast before arriving at the spectacular Agios Ioannis Chapel, instantly recognisable as the setting for Sophie's wedding. Climb the 199 steps to the tiny whitewashed chapel perched dramatically above the sea, where breathtaking panoramic views reward your efforts.
Continue to a traditional olive press before travelling to Kastani Beach, where many of the film's musical scenes were filmed. Surrounded by pine forests and turquoise waters, it remains one of the most photographed beaches in Greece. Later visit picturesque Agnontas Beach, with time for swimming or lunch (own expense), before viewing Amarandos Cove, famous for its distinctive pine trees and beautiful coastal scenery featured during filming. Return to Skopelos Town during the afternoon.

Today is at leisure to continue exploring the island that became the fictional Kalokairi.
You may wish to revisit some of the filming locations, discover secluded beaches, wander through Skopelos Town's maze of cobbled streets, or simply relax while soaking up the atmosphere that made this island the perfect setting for Mamma Mia!.

Transfer to Skopelos Port for your ferry back to Skiathos. You will be met and transferred to your hotel for overnight.
After checking into your hotel, the remainder of the day is free. You may wish to stroll around the picturesque harbour where the cast frequently stayed between filming, browse local boutiques, or relax at a waterfront café reflecting on your Mamma Mia! adventure.

Transfer to Skiathos Airport for your flight to Athens. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for overnight. Remainder of the day at leisure.

This morning you will be transferred by private vehicle to Athens International Airport for your onward flight, taking with you lasting memories of the spectacular islands that brought Mamma Mia! to the big screen.
