Welcome to Hobart. You will be met after immigration and transfer to your central city Hotel where you are reserved for four nights.
This evening join your fellow travel companions for welcome drinks and canapes. An opportunity to relax and meet your fellow travel companions, followed by a 2-course dinner at Stockman’s Restaurant.
Today is a day for all the senses. This morning visit the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. Continue to Richmond, steeped in history. Nestled in the heart of the Coal River Valley, Richmond was established as an important military staging post and convict station linking Hobart with Port Arthur. The village is famous for its elegant Georgian architecture, with beautiful heritage buildings dating back as early as the 1820's, it now features galleries, antiques, tea shops, arts and crafts, and museums.
Continue to Bonorong, a Sanctuary for wildlife run by a passionate team committed to preservation of wildlife. You’ll come face to face with animals that became extinct long ago in some parts of Australia and discover more about the sanctuary’s work to preserve Australian wildlife.
Continue to award winning Wicked Cheese, a boutique cheese maker. The company has emerged in a few short years, to gain recognition for its high quality, hand made cheeses. Cheese sampling is included with your visit.
Later return to your hotel. Dinner this evening is at the oldest pub in Australia, the Drunken Admiral.
This morning walk to the nearby Salamanca Markets, located in handsome 19th-century sandstone warehouses. Starting modestly in 1972 the market has become a showcase of Tasmanian creativity and now spans more than 220 stalls. Featuring produce from pottery to fine arts; to food trucks, books to buskers, there will be ample time to explore with a break for coffee, or sample of some the tempting cuisine on offer. At 1030 drive to the MONA Museum of Old and New Art. Local businessman David Walsh funded the Museum located on the banks of the Derwent, with a vision to house Australia’s largest private collection of art. Continue to Port Arthur Lavender Farm, nestled on 18 acres of lavender gardens and rainforest. Stroll around the lavender trail or take in ocean views with your choice of Tasmanian inspired produce. Our last stop today is at the Port Arthur historic site. Your entry includes a 40-minute guided introductory tour. After a choice of access to over 30 historic buildings including restored houses, heritage gardens and walking trails. During our visit take a 25-minute harbour cruise to understand more of the site and its history. Later this afternoon return to your hotel. This evening join the Hobart Historic cruise, departing at 6pm. A three-course dinner is served during the 2-hour cruise with a complimentary drink.
Today is at leisure. Perhaps visit the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, take a stroll around Hobart’s shop or along the nearby waterfront.
Optional day tour to Bruny Island: Travel is by ferry to Bruny Island, set amidst 50 acres of flora, fauna, and history. Visit some of the islands renowned artisan producers on this all-inclusive wilderness adventure. The tour includes the iconic Neck Lookout, with a 240-step climb, a walk through the ancient Mavista Rainforest and a visit to the Bligh Museum. Tastings include award winning cheeses, handcrafted fudge, and local honey, along with a delicious lunch at Pennicott’s Beach side Restaurant with views of Adventure Bay. The tour departs at approximately 7.45am and will return by 6pm.

This morning farewell Hobart. Travel to the Central Highlands. Our first stop today is at the Tasmanian Bushland Gardens, featuring the native plants of Southeast Tasmania and abundant bird life, amidst 30 acres of bushland. Continue to the historic Old Kempton Distillery, located in a heritage building. Originally a coaching inn where travellers could rest their horses, whiskey, and gin; today Old Kempton uses locally Tasmanian sourced products to produce award winning whiskey and gin. A Gin tour and tasting is included, sample Six Shillings Gin, and barrel aged gin. Lavender Malt, a single spirit malt is also produced here with handpicked lavender from the Port Arthur Lavender Farm. Continue to “The Wall” and see where sculptor Greg Duncan is carving the history of Tasmania, in a series of 100 panels, with each panel one metre high and three metres high. Visit the historic mining town of Queenstown, once the world’s richest mining town. Later travel to Strahan Village, a working fishing port and check in to the Strahan Hotel for two nights

This morning embark on the Gordon River Heritage Cruise and discover the history of Macquarie Harbour and its settlement. Experience the UNESCO Southwest Wilderness Heritage Rainforest. Step ashore Sarah Island and see some of Australia’s oldest convict ruins. A delicious buffet lunch is included. Dinner this evening is own arrangements.
For those who wish to dine together, Colleen will arrange a meet up time in the lobby.
This morning depart Strahan and travel towards Cradle Mountain.
A part of St Clair National Park and listed as an Australian World Heritage Wilderness area, at 1,545 metres above sea level, there will be time to appreciate the spectacular views. A causal lunch is available at the Tavern bar and bistro. (Own cost)
After lunch drive to Sheffield, which has earnt the reputation as Tasmania's Outdoor Art Gallery. Murals adorn the buildings on the main streets in town and have spread into the neighbouring areas, with over 200 now available to view, reflecting the history of the area. First regenerated in the 1980’s there will be time to wander and appreciate this colourful outdoor artwork. The town is also famous for its locally produced Sheffield pies.
Continue to the Devonport and check in at the centrally located hotel, for an overnight stay. Dinner is included this evening at your hotel.
Our first stop this morning is at Home Hill, the home of Australian Prime Minister Joseph Lyons and his wife, Dame Edna Lyons, the first women elected to the Australian Federal Parliament. Built for the family in 1916, the elegant homestead remains largely in its original design, with a rich collection of mementos and a beautiful garden to explore. Continue to the Don River historic railway which has been restored and experience a short trip along this historic railway to Coles Beach Junction. Visit the heritage locomotive Museum. Continue through the rolling patch work hills in Northern Tasmania, to Ghost Rock Vineyard.
With striking views over its vineyards and Bass Strait, local award-winning Tasmanian wines are produced here. A wine tasting is included with time for lunch (own cost). This afternoon drive to Latrobe to visit the famous House of Anvers Chocolate. A tasting of samples is included. Later consider Truffles, Fudge D’Anvers or other sweet delights for purchase. Drive to Launceston and check in for the next two nights at the centrally located Sebel Hotel. This evening walk to a nearby waterfront restaurant, with a superb view. Delicious tasting platters are included. Option to extend for dinner.
This morning is at leisure to explore Launceston from your centrally located hotel, located on the vibrant waterfront.
At 11.30am walk to the nearby Cataract Gorge Reserve, where there are walking trails, peacocks, wildlife, and beautiful gardens. In 1867 the historic Kings Bridge was floated into place. Time for lunch (own cost) in this scenic location.
At 1.30pm depart on a 50-minute Tamar Scenic River Cruise and view the park from the water. Later visit the Queen Victoria Art Gallery, featuring a large display of aboriginal artworks.
This afternoon visit to the Turner Stillhouse Gin Distillery. With a focus on local sourcing, their award winning Three Cuts gin is distilled from local grapes and a unique blend of Tasmanian botanicals. Tastings and tapas included. Return to your hotel to relax, before joining your Travel Companions to reflect on your amazing Tasmanian journey, as you join a farewell dinner at the Bluestone Restaurant in the Sebel Hotel.
Your tour concludes today. Please make your own way to the airport for your departure flight.

If you cancel between 33 and 65 days prior to your travel date 60% of your tour cost will be charged. If you cancel between 10 and 32 days prior to your tour departure you will be charged 75% of your tour cost. Cancellations within 10 days of departure will incur a 100% cancellation charge.
