Day 1: Arusha
Welcome to Tanzania. On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, after clearing customs and immigration, please collect your luggage and proceed outside the arrivals hall here you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha for the night. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Arusha.
Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park (BLD)
Today you will be driven to Tarangire National Park; watch as the countryside changes from lush greenery into the dryer lands of the plateau which lead you to the park. The road is smooth tarmac all the way making for a pleasant experience. On arrival check-in to Nimali Tarangire for a two-night stay.
Tarangire National Park, located in Tanzania’s Manyara Region, is a stunning landscape featuring granite ridges, river valleys, and diverse vegetation, hosting a variety of wildlife. During the dry season, the Tarangire River attracts large herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest, and eland, drawing predators like lions. It's rare for visitors not to spot these majestic animals roaming or grazing. Tarangire is unique for sightings of dry-country antelope such as oryx and gerenuk. The park is also renowned for its baobab trees, panoramic views of the Maasai Steppe, and scenic southern mountains.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park (BLD)
Today venture out into Tarangire in search of lion and cheetah whilst large herds of elephant roam the park en-route to their favourite swamp. You may like to spend the full day game viewing in the park with a picnic lunch to be taken at a dramatic look out or you may prefer to incorporate some leisure time at your lodge between morning and afternoon game drives.
The park has expansive views with wide panoramas of wooded savannah stretching in every direction. The key feature of the park is the Tarangire River, a permanent water source of glacial melt from Mount Kilimanjaro and sustains the wildlife in this vast stretch of Tanzania's Rift Valley. The river attracts tremendous concentrations of animals and birds.
Day 4: Tarangire National Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Area (BLD)
Today bid Tarangire National Park farewell and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, your base for the following two-nights.
This deep, volcanic crater and the largest unbroken caldera in the world; about 20 kilometres wide, 600 meters deep and 300 square kilometres in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breath-taking natural wonder. Within the crater rim, large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze nearby while sleeping lions laze in the sun.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area (BLD)
Your game drive today will be like no other as you visit one of the most dramatic safari destinations in Africa, the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend to the crater floor in search of the Big 5 with the steeply sloped forest covered crater walls surrounding you, creating stunning back drops for all your wildlife photographs. Travel through the Lerai Forest looking for leopard and onto the plains where the wildebeest and zebra graze whilst cheetah and lion lay and watch. Old elephants pass your vehicle whilst further afield rhino wander and hippos hide in the pools. A picnic lunch is provided so you can maximize your day in the crater.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Serengeti National Park (BLD)
Today you will fly to the Serengeti National Park, one of the wonders of the world. As you cruise through the air keep an eye out of the window and take in the incredible, ever changing, landscape below you.
Experience your first Serengeti game drive on the way to the camp for check in followed by lunch. In the afternoon, venture out into the Serengeti’s game filled savannah for a game drive. Driving through the Serengeti in late afternoon, the light provides the perfect opportunity to capture some magical wildlife and landscape photographs. As the light fades
return to your property for dinner.
Day 7 & Day 8: Serengeti National Park (BLD)
Over the next two days explore the vast plains of the Serengeti and all its wonders. Every year, triggered by the rains, 1.3 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle gather to undertake the long trek to new grazing lands. The Serengeti is not only famous for the great Wildebeest Migration but also for the vast number of species that reside in the park year-round. The concentration of predators in the Serengeti is high with large prides of lion, numerous hyena clans and regular sightings of both cheetah and leopard. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe and antelope can also be found on the fertile plains, as well as some lesser-known species such as aardwolves, mongooses, caracals, servals and hyraxes. If you want to make the most of your game viewing time, you can take a picnic into the park and dine in the vast savannah before returning to your lodge later in the day.
Day 9: Serengeti National Park - Arusha (B)
