Day 1: Nairobi
Welcome to Africa. On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, after collecting your luggage, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi for the night. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Nairobi at the JW Marriott Hotel.
Situated along the Nairobi River in beautiful Kenya, the capital of Nairobi is East Africa's most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place to be. There are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum, the elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and most notably, just 20 minutes from the city centre, wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve.
Day 2: Nairobi - Amboseli National Park (BLD)
This morning you will be driven to Amboseli National Park, located right by the Tanzania border. En-route, experience the charm of small towns with their lively fruit and veggie vendors selling their wares. Take in the breathtaking view of Mount Kilimanjaro as you leave the main road; it's truly stunning and can be seen from miles away on clear days! Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Accommodation is reserved for two nights at Tawi Lodge.
Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Maasai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya's most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snowcap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
Day 3: Amboseli National Park (BLD)
Discover the excitement of game drives in Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya's smaller but perhaps most stunning parks. Admire the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro towering above the landscape. Covering 392 sq. kms and bordering Tanzania, this park offers unique allure. Years ago, this was the wilderness around which literary greats like Ernest Hemingway and Robert Ruark spun their stories of big-game hunting in the wilds of Africa.
Day 4: Amboseli National Park - Ol Pejeta Conservancy (BLD)
This morning you will be transferred to Amboseli Airport where you will board your aircraft bound for the expanses of Ol Pejeta Conservancy. As you fly north, the Aberdare Range will be on your left and, on a clear day, you will have a wonderful view of Mount Kenya on the right. On arrival at the Kamok Airstrip you will be met by your lodge driver/guide and depart on a short game drive to the property. Accommodation at Tambarare Camp for three nights.
Day 5 & Day 6: Ol Pejeta Conservancy (BLD)
Explore the conservancy's vast landscapes with morning and afternoon game drives, spotting rare species like Grevy's Zebras whose stripes are smaller and more delicate than their common cousins. This Kenyan region excels in wildlife and rhino conservation, showing how traditional pastoral farming can coexist with wildlife preservation. Besides game drives, there are various other activities you can join during your stay.
Day 7: Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Olare Motorogi Conservancy (BLD)
Today you are transferred to the Kamok Airstrip to board your flight to the Masai Mara, crossing over some of Kenya's sunning landscape beneath you. As you near the reserve look out of the window for the chance to see elephants, giraffes and more below you. On arrival check in to Lalashe Maasai Mara Luxury Tented Camp for three nights.
The Olare Motorogi Conservancy is an 85 square kilometre expanse of prime private wilderness in southwest Kenya; part of the Maasai Mara-Serengeti ecosystem and wildlife dispersal zone. The conservancy lies immediately to the northwest of the main Maasai Mara Reserve. Tourism is limited to a maximum of 94 beds which maximizes your wilderness experience and minimizes the environmental impact of tourism. Open hills provide a habitat for a diverse range of grazers, including giraffes, zebras, hartebeests, and warthogs. These herds attract large numbers of predators, including lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals. In between the hills run a number of small seasonal streams, fringed by stretches of forest which are home to a broader range of species including baboons, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and leopards.
Day 8 & Day 9: Olare Motorogi Conservancy
Over the next two days you will experience the expansive Masai Mara with morning, afternoon, or even full-day game drives. Renowned as Africa's crown jewel, the Maasai Mara boasts a remarkable diversity of wildlife within its 1,510 square kilometres of savannah, woodlands, and rivers. The park's western boundary, marked by the magnificent Siria Escarpment, complements the acacia-dotted plains, offering breathtaking scenery. The park is abundant with lions, elephants, giraffes, various gazelles, and zebras. Cheetahs and leopards are frequently spotted, and with some luck, rhinos too. Game viewing in the Mara is consistently rewarding, with patience often leading to extraordinary wildlife encounters.
Day 10: Olare Motorogi Conservancy - Nairobi (B)
Today, you bid farewell to the Masai Mari. Set off for Nairobi in your aircraft and take in the wonderful, ever-changing landscape of Kenya below. On arrival at Wilson Airport you will be met and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
